In a clinical trial of EquiPatch stitches were removed from excision wounds within 24 hours. Normally these stitches would need to stay in for at least 10 to 14 days.
A panel of clinicians that reviewed wounds from these trials rated the one-day old wounds treated with EquiPatch as more than eight days old.
Case studies on horses have demonstrated rapid reformation of the dermis with wounds healing within a few weeks with no visible scars.
